Being a Marine is not an easy job, but it is a great honour to wear the Marine uniform. If you want to know how to join the Marine Corps, these pointers will help you on your way.

Think about it

Before you join, think about the responsibility that comes with being a Marine. Their purpose is defending national security through warfare. This means you could be facing dangers and be sent on high risk missions. Also it is an elite force so you will have to step it up to become a Marine, work harder and not expect promotions very soon. On the other hand, being part of the US Marines is a huge honour and the dangerous tasks you might have to embark on, do keep your country safe.

Recruitment

If you are sure you want to be a Marine, make an appointment with a recruitment officer. The Marine recruiter can tell you more about the training that is involved and what it is actually like to be a Marine. Gather as much information as you can before you commit to it. If you have friends or other acquaintances who have joined, ask them what it is like.

The test

The next step is to have the recruiter make an appointment for an Armed Service Vocational Aptitude Battery test for you. This is the most widely used multiple-aptitude test battery there is. It measures all your strengths and weaknesses and measures your potential. Among the tests is also a qualification test. This will show if you are qualified to join the military.
