If you want to make a heavy and big one, then you can use a ply as its base but if you want to make some simple ones in good quantity, then it is better to use a cardboard or thick paper sheet. A cardboard sheet according to the size of frames for pictures, scissors, glue, paint, watercolour, and decoration material according to choice.

Steps for making a picture frame

· Keep the size of the frame eight times than that of the picture. Then add desired length to this size and multiply it by 12 to get the final size of the frame, you would require to arrange. Little extra inches could be arranged in case of any cutting error.
· Now, select the design for the mould of the frame from an art book, internet, craft shop, or any other source that impresses you. Here you can keep the feel of the mould according to the picture you will place in it.
· Now start with the cutting of the cardboard. To get a rectangular shape, keep the opposite sides equal to each other. To obtain a square shape, keep all the four sides equal. Leave some extra inches on each side for the mitered corners.
· Next, colour the picture frame in your favourite colours. You can try using different colours and combinations along with some self-art on the frame. Use the decoration materials in a subtle way around the frame and don’t overload it with stuff.
· To give support to the frame, attach a rectangular and thick piece of cardboard at the back with the help of glue.
· Now place your picture in the middle of the frame and it is ready.
