The pros and cons of baby cubes

When a mother decides to prepare home-made food for her baby, she should make sure that the food remains fresh and suitable for baby consumption. This means that baby food has to be stored safely to ensure that it remains fresh as stale food can cause enteric problems to the baby. Use of baby cubes is a good method of storing baby food.

Uses of baby cubes

The use of baby cubes has been on the rise lately as they make it convenient for mothers who wish to make home food for their babies. They are used to store solid foods in small measures suitable for single use. If you are a mother who wants to start your baby on solid foods, baby cubes can be the best way to store the food for long periods as you wish.

Positive points

It allows mothers to prepare their favourite baby food in large amounts, and then portion it into small measures. This saves the time of preparing baby food everyday. The baby cubes allow small portions of food to be frozen in each cube. This makes it safe as you do not need to disturb the whole lot of food when drawing - which could lead to contamination. The small measures also ensure minimal waste of left-over food. Unlike most food containers, baby cubes are BPA free. Therefore, they cannot produce harmful chemicals into the food and in addition, they are microwave safe. They come in measured ounces and markings on the sides, hence they are a great way of knowing how well your baby is feeding. They occupy far less space on the freezer than conventional food dishes.

Negative points

Some are not dish-washing suitable, therefore requiring manual cleaning. This is a disadvantage for those who despise washing dishes manually. Usually, filling food past the marked threshold may cause them to pop-open while in the freezer, they can lead to food contamination. A few brands have poor plastic quality. This can result to chemicals from the plastic contaminating baby food. Most baby cubes have exaggerated prices and can cost you a lot. Since they are small, babies tend to outgrow them in a short time. This demands the purchase of new ones. Hence, they are an extra expense.
