The concept
Bedroom TV
Today, no matter where they are, people love to watch music videos online. Whereas most prefer to watch their favourite artists Bedroom TV came up with another concept. Launched in 2007, Bedroom TV offered aspiring stars the chance to produce videos of themselves lip syncing to their song of choice whilst accompanied by their own choreography, slide shows or animations.
Public viewing
Once submitted, the videos would be aired for public viewing with viewers given the opportunity to rate each performance. Every video submitted is entered into a specific genre or competition, the latter of which include cash prizes for the winners.
Recent competitions have requested songs in the categories of Spring Bonus (SB) and Slightly Different (SD).
Airtime
Bedroom TV was first aired on Sky channel 376 and ran from its launch up until July 2008. From then, it was moved to channel 381, however, the channel was shut down in August 2008. Unfortunately, after August 2008 the show no longer aired on television. This was most likely due to the inability of Bedroom TV to stand the heavy competition from sites such as Youtube and Myspace. Nevertheless, Bedroom TV has not disappeared into obscurity and is now running as an online platform for music videos.
