The top five episodes of TV series The Practice (1997–2004)
The Practice TV show was created by David E. Kelley, whose first choice of vocation was the law, and ran from 1997 to 2004. The series centred on the members of a Boston law firm and the criminals, police, judges and other shady characters with whom they must deal with in their daily routine. This article is a summary of five outstanding episodes in this very popular series.

David E. Kelley's characters
David E. Kelley also created L.A. Law, Picket Fences, Chicago Hope, The Practice, Ally McBeal, Boston Public and Boston Legal. Kelley's portrayal of the law through The Practice was said by members of the legal profession to be more accurate than Ally McBeal or L.A. Law.
Some of the main characters in the series were:
- Bobby Donnell, senior partner of the firm. Played by Dylan McDermott.
- Jimmy Berluti, a partner in the firm. Played by Michael Badalucco.
- Eugene Young, a partner. Played by Steve Harris.
- Alan Shore, an opportunistic an unethical lawyer who joins the show for The Practice season 8. Played by James Spader.

Hide and Seek (1997)
Popular TV actor from the 1960s, James Whitmore, plays Raymond Oz, a veteran attorney who requests Bobby's attendance as second-chair to help him prop up his failing memory.
Betrayal (1997)
The firm represents a fiendishly clever man who is on trial for murdering his lover. The client executes a daring stunt to escape conviction. In the same episode, Jimmy is accused of soliciting.
Burden of Proof (1998)
Jimmy represents a number of cancer patients in suing a company responsible for erecting power lines. The case is hopeless to start with, but there is no medical evidence to support the patients' claim and matters are complicated by the judge's hostility and the only scientific witness' inebriation.
Black Widows (2000)
A woman known to the media as "The Black Widow" is defended in court by Eugene and Bobby. The woman, Courtney Hansen, is accused of causing her husband to suffer a fatal heart attack by having sex with him. Courtney is played by Victoria Principal.
Boston Confidential (1999)
A man confesses to have murdered his wife when her body is found in the boot of his car. Unfortunately, the search of his car is ruled invalid by the judge and so, he is released. Bobby finds that the man has an unusual relationship with the accused man. The man is played by Henry Winkler.
