The importance of education
Knowledge brings with it the conscientiousness of being used acceptably in the world. It needs to be understood to have an important effect on people and communities. The process of education provides access to the various aspects of life, values and culture which we can comprehend and enjoy. Education is important for everyone to help realize their potential and make the best of every opportunity coming their way. It grants the right to a legacy of human accomplishments, conviction and values, books, music, language and academic and practical endeavours.
Education and development
Education and development is all about growth. Education is essential to development as only then can we uplift people from poverty, empower them and strengthen countries. Investing in education not only benefits societies and generations of the world, but it also reinforces the economic and social well-being by laying the foundation of sustainable development. Education leads to the development of an individual’s efficiency and earnings, hence reducing poverty. Likewise, education leads to the development of societies’ competitiveness (economically and socially), peace and stability, and promotes care for the environment.
21st century education
In the past, education was teacher-centered, and students worked in isolation by memorising facts rather than understanding them. Education was textbook driven as print was the only medium of learning. Schools did not enjoy academic or student freedom and students were not motivated.
However, 21st century learning has adopted a new concept of being flexible, inspired, imaginative and challenging. It addresses a different world by being practice based where it instills curiosity in children, and new ways of learning are adhered to by retrieving and analyzing information.
Effectual communication (oral and written), critical thinking, new problems, and changes in adaptability are targeted. Kids are technology driven and have become ‘digital learners’ due to internet, TV, radio, gaming devices, laptops and cellular phones.
Education in 21st century schools is research driven where children don’t memorise, respect teachers and are extremely motivated to learn. Curriculum is project-based - this aims at students tackling real-world problems and concerns vital to humanity, thereby bringing about a personal and social change and equipping them to survive in the global era.
Conclusion
Access to knowledge and excellence should be indispensable. The meaning of education lies in instructing definite values from discussions and encounters. It believes in committing to respect for everyone, democracy, encouragement of interests and happiness, justice and equality, and truth.
