Anthony J Lewis is an English actor who is famous for playing the role of Marc Reynolds in the popular British soap, 'Emmerdale', for four years. He is also a coveted stage actor. This article explores Anthony in more detail.

Early years

Anthony Lewis began acting at the age of nine and established himself as a talented child actor with many early television roles in popular programmes such as, 'Heartbeat' and 'A Touch of Frost.' During these early years, he even starred alongside British actress Julie Walters in the film. Girls' Night' which was written by Kay Mellor, a director that Anthony Lewis would go on to work with on other projects later in his career.

Emmerdale

Anthony's big break came when he got the permanent role of Marc Reynolds on the popular British soap, 'Emmerdale.' The job came after Anthony impressed in his regular roles on the television programmes, 'Children's Ward' and, 'Adam's Family Tree' as well as in his starring role in the British comedy award winning show, 'My Dad's a Boring Nerd.' Anthony played the role of Marc Reynolds for three years between the years of 1999 and 2002, before returning for a brief spell in 2007. After he had left Emmerdale, Lewis managed to land further television work in, 'Daziel and Pascoe' and, 'Respectable' as well as role in the feature film, 'Boy A.' One of Lewis biggest roles came in the BBC sci-fi series, 'Torchwood' in which he played the character of Tommy Brockless, a world war one soldier who is charged with saving the universe. As well as his television work, Lewis pursued a career in the theatre and landed challenging roles in, 'Broken Voices' and his most recent play, that runs throughout 2011, 'A Passionate Woman' in which he stars alongside Kay Mellor.

Personal life

Lewis currently lives in London (August 2011) with his long term partner Laura Carter and Lewis is also the brother of the actor Matthew Lewis who plays Neville Longbottom in the Harry Potter film series. Before he went in to acting full-time, Lewis was in a band called, 'The Good Die Young' but he quit the band in order to focus on his acting career.
