A biography of Lauren Taylor (reporter)

Lauren Taylor is a London-based TV reporter currently working as a presenter at Al Jazeera English. Al Jazeera English is dedicated to providing balanced news coverage on Middle Eastern events for a global audience. Lauren has worked freelance for Sky News and for Al Jazeera English in Doha, Qatar as a presenter. This article presents a detailed biography of Lauren Taylor.

Education

In 1992, after gaining her education at Oxford and graduating from City University, London with her Journalism Diploma, Lauren joined Independent Television News, the producers of news for ITV as a graduate trainee. The nineteen-nineties were interesting times and Lauren began her career reporting on major events like the death of Princess Diana, the IRA bombing in Manchester, the London Docklands bomb and ETA violence in Spain.

ITV political correspondent

As a political correspondent at ITV News, her assignments at ITV included the live coverage of the US 2004 Presidential Election and stories on the British Prime Minister's visits to Washington and his contentious holidays in Italy. Stories She furthered her broadcasting career at the Independent Television Network as an economics correspondent. In this capacity, she filed stories in the UK 2005 budget, the prospects of the thirty-five hour week in France, and the launch of the Airbus A380 in Toulouse. During her career, Lauren has gained valuable experience, presenting news stories from the studio and breaking news on location. Her specialty correspondent work has been in the areas of politics, health and business. Languages Lauren has a strong interest in languages and she is fluent in Italian, German and basic Arabic as well as she has a working knowledge of French.

Presenting Al Jazeera news hour

For nearly four years, between January 2006 and September 2009, Lauren held the position of senior news anchor for Al Jazeera English in Doha. She was one of the principal presenters of the news hour programme since its inception in November 2006. News hour News hour is an hour-long programme which presents news in-depth with live interviews and updates to breaking news. Lauren anchored the news hour that won the award for Best 24 Hour News Programme at the Monte Carlo Television Festival in 2008. During her time in Doha, Lauren did field reporting on terrorism in Yemen, Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco. She was also embedded with a US army, unit searching for Improvised explosive devices in Baghdad.
