A buying guide for retro fridges
According to Webster's Dictionary, retro is defined as "relating to, reviving, or being the styles and especially the fashion of the past : fashionably nostalgic or old-fashioned." This term can be attached to anything, including refrigerators. For, as anyone knows, what was stylish long ago may become once again stylish-just look at the checkered history of bell-bottomed jeans. If you wish to buy a retro fridge, there are three ways to go about it.

New retro fridge
Thanks to their interest in the past, modern companies such as Gorenje, Nardi and Smeg are happy to oblige by offering retro fridges and fridge/freezer combinations in the retro style.
Features
Inside the fashionable exteriors, which can be white, pink, orange, ivory, green, white and black, are energy-efficient appliances that are kind to your electricity bills. These thoroughly modern, retro fridges bear names such as Smeg Fab28 and 32 and Retro Mini.
Reconditioned retro fridge
If you do not want to buy a modern retro fridge, but you wish to buy a retro fridge that is more authentic, in other words, one which is old, then a reconditioned fridge may be for you.
Online
These fridges are available online or at appliance stores, which may do the reconditioning work themselves.
Energy efficiency
While the reconditioning means that the retro fridges, though old, will work, they will not have the same energy efficiency of the modern retro fridges which are made to look old but are decidedly not.
Cheese-makers
However, these fridges will look cool in one's garage. It is also good for cheese-makers who do not need a frost-free fridge for the ripening of their cheese.
Old retro fridge
If you prefer to go with the older fridge, then the real, old retro fridge will be for you. These fridges can be found by scouring the classifieds, sites like eBay and Craigslist, lawn sales, or by looking for retro fridges standing at the side of the roads in your travels.
Disadvantage
While these fridges can be considered the most retro, thanks to their authenticity, they may require the most work. You may have to clean them more, recondition them yourselves, and even replace part.
Cost
This could mean that the free retro fridge may cost as much as the more modern retro fridges in the first section.
