A guide to Universal Studios in Orlando

Universal Studios, in Florida is a theme park located in the American city of Orlando. Entertaining something in the region between five and six million guests a year, according to 2010 reports, the park has been the home of iconic theme park attractions such as the 'Back to the Future Ride' where Steven Spielberg played a role in designing many of the park's attractions in the past. Overview

Universal Studios in Orlando is a theme park which revolves entirely around the movies. The park's advertising tagline is "Jump into the action of the Movies" after all. The park is therefore laid out in six themed areas, each named after an American city or a cinematic reference, with a lagoon at their centre. Areas of attraction Runing clockwise from the entrance, the six areas are: Production Central, New York, San Francisco or Amity, World Expo, Woody Woodpecker's Kid zone and Hollywood. Different attractions are available in each section, and attractions in each area, which include dramatic and performance presentations as well as rides, reflect the theme inherent in the area's name.

Key attractions

A visit to the Universal Studios theme park is one of Florida's main attractions, and there is a host of other attractions as well as roller coasters and rides, all of them reflecting the characters and events of Universal pictures. 'Revenge of the Mummy' The ride is situated in the New York area of the park, while the famous 'Jaws' ride, originally a staged presentation, is situated in the San Francisco or Amity section, which is also where 'Beetlejuice's Rock and Roll Graveyard Revue' is located. This is a rock'n'roll type live show featuring actors performing as some of Univesal's famous horror characters such as the Wolfman and the Bride of Frankenstein.

Food and accommodation

There are bars and restaurants in each of the section, ranging from an Italian restaurant and an Irish bar in the New York area, to the International Food and Film Festival, located in the World Expo area. There are also a number of places to stay in the local area, with with three AAA Four Diamond Award winning hotels on site.

Transport and access

A vacation in Orlando would not really be complete without a visit to Universal Studios. The park can be easily reached by car, while it is also close to the Orlando International Airport.
