A guide to designing wedding rings
When it is time to ask that special someone in your life to marry you, you want to make sure that everything is perfect. You want the right mood, right place and most importantly, the right ring. However, where do you start when designing a wedding ring? Read this article and learn some tips about how to design the right ring for your future bride.
Budget
Start by figuring out your budget. Before you even walk into a store, determine what is the maximum amount that you are willing to spend. The general rule is that you spend two months’ pay, but that rule was standardised by the industry that sells engagement diamonds. It is best to figure out the amount that you are comfortable to spend, and remember that the amount that you spend, does not equal to how much you love your intended.
Jeweller
Once you figure out your budget, pick a good jeweller. If you choose to go with a national chain store, you may find that there is a ton of selection, but the prices are elevated. However, the rings sold there may come with good warranties and insurance. You may also want to look at smaller, individually owned stores. You may find cheaper prices on quality diamonds.
Diamond
Choose what kind of diamonds that you want. Most diamond jewellers sell pre-set rings, as well as loose diamonds and settings. Many times, you can get a better deal if you buy them separately. An added benefit is that you can pick the exact diamond and the band that your sweetheart will love. There are many different types of diamonds to choose from - round, pear, princess and marquis. Diamonds also come in different degrees of colour and clarity. It is best to do your homework regarding the types of diamonds before going to buy your ring.
Setting
Choose a setting that is fitting for your future bride. You may look for a simple band or something with added stones on the sides of the main diamond stud. You will also be able to choose what type of metal that you want for your band. Normally, you can choose between yellow gold, white gold, rose gold or platinum wedding rings.
