To increase your chances of finding the right person to spend your life with, make sure that you aren't making the following dating mistakes.
It is difficult enough to find someone to date, never mind finding someone who might make a good life partner. Depending on who you talk to, you can get a lot of different dating tips. However, here are some definite dating mistakes which you want to make sure you avoid:
Mistake #1: Not knowing what you want
You might be new to the romance scene because of reasons such as divorce, moving to a new area or finishing school. This is no excuse for not knowing what you want. You don’t have to draw up a detailed list, but make sure you have some vague notions, such as:
1. Are you looking for fun, or a serious long-term relationship?
2. Are you willing to date someone outside of your race or religion?
3. Are you willing to travel, or even relocate if you meet the right person? Answer these three questions honestly and save yourself time and heartache. Mistake #2: Selling the perfect 'you' While there is something to be said for putting your best foot forward in any dating situation, don’t oversell yourself or, worse, do not pretend to be something you are not. When you make this mistake, you aren’t allowing your potential partner the joy of getting to know the real 'you'. You are also putting undue stress on yourself. You also must consider how long you can keep up this pretence, and what the other person will think if they find out you have been lying to them since the beginning of the relationship. They will certainly have trouble trusting you, and lack of trust can destroy almost every relationship known to Man. Mistake #3: Not listening to your instincts No matter how attractive and brilliant a potential partner might appear, remember that appearances can be deceiving. Trust your instincts. If you have an uneasy feeling about someone, don’t just push it aside for the sake of getting into a relationship. Make sure you can verify facts about a person whom you are going to continue dating. You don’t want to end up dating someone who is already married, or who has no intention of finding employment. If a person’s story keeps on changing, be prepared to move on quickly.
