A guide to wedding night lingerie
There are plenty of lingerie options for your marriage night. Your style will be decided not only by your body shape, but by the shape and opaqueness of your dress. Much can also be said for the choice of whether to wear your lingerie under your dress or not, this decision is up to the bride. For the traditional wedding wear, be sure to wear thigh high stockings and a garter. This article provides a guide to wedding night lingerie.
Choosing a style
There are many different styles of lingerie, from the naughty garters, corsets, cowl necks, the baby doll, slip, teddy, bustier, vintage style bra and frilly panties, and chemise. Cowl and teddy are recommended for bustier women who are looking for a bit more coverage. Lingerie also comes in a wide variety of textures, such as cotton, vinyl, silk, and lace. All styles aside, men really do love women who can rock the panty and ribbed racer-back.
Style considerations
If you will be wearing your wedding lingerie underneath your gown, be cognisant of the opaqueness of your dress. Test this first by wearing a black tank top and putting your dress over it. Can you see the black colour through the white dress? If so, choose lingerie that is ivory, white, or beige, and which will not be noticed through the dress. If the colouring isn't a problem, choose any colour that you like.
Another consideration is style and cut. If you are wearing a strapless dress with the lingerie underneath, you obviously wouldn't want to have bridal lingerie that has straps or any overt designs, such as fur or feathers.
The fit
Along with proper fit and style, comfort should also be a large consideration, especially for brides who will be wearing their lingerie underneath their dresses. Remember that tight, corset style lingerie will not be comfortable during a six-hour reception, and neither would a G-string. Emotional comfort is also important. If you feel self-conscious wearing something racy or too revealing, don’t wear it. Choose pieces that flatter your body type. Especially if this is for all intents and purposes your first time with your husband, the fit and feel of your lingerie should make you feel comfortable and confident, no matter your size or shape.
