A review of BBC Sport

BBC Sport is the sports division of the British Broadcasting Corporation. It is responsible for all the broadcasting on network and keeps the BBC homepage on the website updated with all the latest fixtures and reports from the latest matches as well as keeping the news section updated with news sport fixtures and events.

Overview

The BBC Sports department covers a lot of different sport events such as horse racing and football. The department has a core selection of presenters that work either on location at the events or back in the studio where they provide commentaries on the events, as well as any half-time updates. During the football season, the department also shows Match of the day, which is a weekly programme that covers the week’s football news as well as the latest information on transfer. The BBC also shows a lot of other sports ranging from Formula One to live Rugby as well as Golf championships and the major Horse racing meetings.

Positive points

The coverage of events is very good. Fans are given presenters who usually have been associated with the sport in one way or another such as David Coulthard and Eddie Jordan co-presenting the Formula One coverage for the last couple of seasons. They also cover the major events such as the Commonwealth or Olympic games. The coverage is informative whilst never losing sight of the fun aspects of the sport. The website is very also easy to use - there is a list of sports listed down the side of the page which redirects users to the specific sports. They also keep the pages updated daily with the latest news so that users don’t miss any of the news about their favourite sporting events.

Negative points

Although the site has something for everyone, it is quite football centred. So, if you don’t like football, you might be put off by the homepage. Some of the pages are slow to load, but this might be down to a slow connection more than anything else. The Formula One page in particular is quite slow to load any of the live footage of the events, it is also presented on a black screen. So, some of the text might be hard to read if it is on a small display.
