Courses and rules

Portugal boasts over 70 courses on its mainland and the surrounding islands of Madeira and the Azores. Some of the courses regularly host professional tournaments on the Portuguese national and European circuit and has previously played host to the World Cup. With it's vast array of courses, The Algarve is the most popular destination amongst golfers with the recently added Laranjal course demonstrating the quality and commitment that the Algarve gives to golf. However, the majority of courses will offer beautifully-crafted courses with well-maintained fairways and challenging pin positions, giving you value for money as you look to post a respectable score.

Wherever you play your golf in Portugal, whether it be Lisbon, Madeira or the Algarve, you will be surrounded by breathtaking scenery that allow you to feel fully relaxed on your round. In the summer months, Portugal is also usually basked with constant sunshine, with temperatures ranging between 25 and 40 degrees. It is usually very dry too, with the majority of the days experiencing no rain. Even as the winter months approach, it is still common for temperatures to hover around 18 to 20 degrees.

Cost of golf in Portugal

Like many countries in Europe, in Portugal, you are able to choose from playing a single round of 18 holes or participate in golf package trips which enables you to play a few rounds of golf for a specified amount of time. The green fees in Portugal for a single round of golf range from 30 Euro's and 130 Euro's, with the price being dependent on the time of day and time of year that you play.
