Although its head office is in Halifax, West Yorkshire, it manages to roll out its vehicle insurance across the U.K. (including Northern Ireland), via its network of independent insurance intermediaries. In June 2011, Provident became a part of the Covea insurance group. This is a French mutual insurance company, which has 10.6 million members and over 25,000 employees. In the U.K., Provident is a subsidiary of MMA Holdings UK plc, and is a sister company to both MMA insurance Ltd and the Swinton Group.

Provident is a car insurance company, providing cover through a network of 3,000 insurance intermediaries. Policies Private Provident Headstart - This is designed to suit the needs of young drivers between the ages of 18 and 24. Provident man-oeuvre is designed to meet the needs of male drivers aged between 25 and 49. Provident First Lady - this insurance is for ladies aged 25 to 49. Additional discounts are available for their marital or common law partners, if they use the same car. Commercial This offering is van motor insurance, which covers up to four litre engine size and 3.5tons of load carrying capacity. PVP (Value protection cover) This is a unique policy which is designed to help motorists financially if their car is stolen. When theft insurance pays out on the loss of a car, it only pays out market value, which often still leaves, the owner losing money because of depreciation. Provident Standard - This is a value for money-orientated driving insurance policy, which covers various, types of vehicle. Lady Drive - This is insurance for ladies aged between 21 and 80 years of age. As a bonus, this policy offers additional discount for drivers who have five or more years claim or conviction free. Second Car - This insurance is designed for lady drivers whose husband or common law partner also wants to use the car. Insurance is only for leisure, commuting and domestic use. Thirty Plus - This is insurance for experienced drivers aged between 30 and 80 years old. It comes with additional benefits of increased level of cover for personal belongings, and replacement locks cover.
