Car review: 2011 Dodge Charger

The legendary Dodge Charger made its comeback début in 2006. Currently, after five years, the 2011 Charger has received some due upgrades in power and comfort with a nifty set of options that has placed the legend back in the spot within the full-size family sedan market. Find more on the 2011 Dodge Charger.

The Charger's body

The full-size Dodge Charger four-door sedan came back in 2011 with the SE and R/T trims. To the approval of rear-wheel drive supporters, both models came with the old drive-train set-up that made the old Charger a favourite. Currently, the R/T comes with an optional all-wheel drive. The 2011 Charger boasts a self-confident style reminiscent of its car-muscle heritage, accentuated with a new set of bright racetrack/LEDs tail lights.

Charger's new power

The new Dodge Charger 3.6-litre V6 Pentastar-292 horsepower is a nice performance alternative to the already known R/T 5.7L 8cyl / 370 horsepower engine. Still, with the added power, the 3.6L remains quiet on the road and both engine models feature a fuel savings mode. The Charger engines are coupled to a five-speed automatic transmission with a manual shift feature, which has been more of a drawback for performance-driven enthusiast who would like to see the Charger slammed with a nice and powerful set of manual gears.

Interior changes

The interior changes were a nice surprise for those who criticised the cheap feel of the previous model. Dodge decided to replace the hard plastic surfaces with soft and quality materials for its 2011 model. However, it did not stop there. Inside, you will find touch screen controls, heat seats with better support, keyless ignition/entry and a more luxurious style for a better and more comfortable driving experience.

Driving the Charger

Many drivers of the revived legend are reporting that the new Charger really feels like a luxury model. This is not only due to its more comfortable interior, but also due to its reworked suspension, stability and traction control system. The steering system is aided by electronic controls that help you to manoeuvre with ease around tight corners and reduced spaces in parking spots. A makeover in power and feel is already placing the 2011 Dodge Charger among the favourites in the family-sedans to drive.
