Citibank Credit Cards: The facts

Although Citibank has thrived since the 1800's, the venture into the credit cards is recent, as it is only in 1968 that they have created their cards. Originally begun in the United States, Citibank now offers its banking services to over 20 countries, and is now the third largest US bank. Citibank offers four different credit cards to eligible customers. Here is a review of all the four credit cards.

The Intro rate CitiCards

Citibank offers two intro rate credit cards, namely the Citi Platinum Select and the City Simplicity card. Both are Citibank Mastercards, a trademark of Mastercard International Incorporated. Citi Platinum Select is a Platinum Mastercard which comes with a 0% intro APR for both purchases and balance transfers from other company cards for 21 months. After that time period, variable APR will vary, based on credit, between 11.99 and 20.99%. Cash advances carry a slightly higher APR at 25.24%, and if you are late with a payment, this rate will increase up to 29.99% for all future purchases. Both Citi credit cards have no annual fee. The City Simplicity card offers the same intro APR at 0% for 21 months. However, it carries no late fees. Visit Citibank online at Creditcards.citicards.com for complete Terms and conditions.** The Cash Back CitiCard The Citi Dividend World Mastercard is a great credit card for investments and savings. The same intro rate applies as the Intro Rate cards, 0%. However it is only for 15 months. Typical rates after the introductory period range from 12.99% to 20.99%, again based on credit. Offering $100 cash back after you have spent $500 worth of purchases in 3 months, would be an excellent idea to place your earned money in a savings account or CD to earn interest. Earn an additional 5% cash back through the Citibank Bonus Cash Center online**.

Citi's Rewards Card

Citi ThankYou Preferred is the Rewards CitiBank card. With a 12-month introductory rate of 0%, the variable APR spans between 12.99% to 20.99%. Spending $500 within the first three months with this card will earn you a 10,000 bonus in ThankYou points, CitiBank's rewards program. Customers can earn one ThankYou point for every $1 spent, and 5 points for every $1 which you have spent at grocery stores, pharmacies and gas stations within the first 12 months. This point system is particularly generous, given that most US credit card rewards cards offer a maximum of 2-3 points at other banks.** References: -**(Creditcards.citicards.com, all associated costs and prices current as of 01.07.11) - (En.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citibank)
