Holidays to Fuerteventura: What to see and do when abroad

Fuerteventura beaches

You have probably booked an all inclusive Fuerteventura travel package, but it is certainly worth to leave your hotel and sun bed and visit some of the most popular beaches of the island. Many of Fuerteventura’s beaches have received the award of the Blue Flag, an award for the best beaches around the world. This is judged in terms of water quality, sand cleanliness, and public facilities. Make sure to visit the beaches of Gran Tarajal, Costa Calma, and Butihondo. If you can find the time take a map of Fuerteventura, take a tour of the coast and find a lot of hidden beaches.

Puerto del Rosario It is the capital of the island of Fuerteventura. It is a harbor town and serves as the entry port of Fuerteventura. It offers plenty tourist attractions. You will also find here the largest shopping mall on the island of Fuerteventura Betancuria Betancuria is a small town in the centre of a picturesque valley. You can visit the historic monastic ruin, a restored church and some museums. La Lajita La Lajita is a small fishing village with the famous black sand beaches. If you decide to visit La Lajita, do not forget to also visit Oasis Park, a wildlife center. Salinas del Carmen Visit the island of Salinas del Carmen and its famous salt flats. Explore the Salt Museum, where you can witness how the salt is harvested from the sea and is finally ready for consumption. La Oliva Visit La Oliva and explore the La Cilla Museum of Grains and find out more about the history of agriculture in Fuerteventura. Betancuria Museum In the Betancuria Museum you can visit exhibits from the early years of Furteventura’s history and learn more about the prehistoric era of the island.
Antigua and Molino de Antigua Visit the village of Antigua and the nearby Molino de Antigua. Molino de Antigua is a restored windmill with remarkable gardens where you could spend plenty of hours.
