How to apply Clairol hair dye
Clairol hair dye is trusted by thousands of women, and their nice and easy, root touch-up and perfect ten hair colouring brands are inexpensive to buy and easy to use. Follow the instructions below to ensure that you get the best hair colour out of your Clairol dye.
Step one
Once you have chosen the right Clairol hair dye colour to suit you by looking at the colour charts, you must always carry out a patch test. Put a small amount of dye on the ski behind your ear and leave it for 24 hours to ensure that there is no irritation or allergy from the hair colour.
Step two
Make sure that you have clean, dry hair to start with. Wear an old t-shirt so that you don't get the dye on any nice clothes, and have a hair clip with you to pin-up your hair, while you are waiting for the dye to take effect. If you think that you might get dye around your face, then put some petroleum jelly around your hairline and on your ears, which stops the dye staining your skin and is easy to wipe off afterwards.
Step three
Following the Clairol professional instructions inside the packet, put the gloves on and mix the two bottled solutions together. Shake it firmly for a few seconds, and then, leave it to rest before you attach the foamer cap.
Step four
Holding the can upright, squeeze the foam into your hand then, apply it like a shampoo, taking care to get to all the roots around the hairline and any gray hair colour first, then work outwards to do the rest of the head. Make sure that you have evenly distributed the dye right along the ends of your hair, particularly if you have long hair. You may need to buy two packs if you have especially long hair. If there is any left-over at the end, re-touch your roots or temples.
Step five
Comb or run your hands through your hair and massage your scalp to make sure that the dye is well-distributed, then clip your hair up to wait the 30 minutes until you need to wash out hair colour. Once the 30 minutes is up, wash your hair in the shower until the water runs clear.
Step six
To ensure that you get good shine on your hair, use the first conditioner, leaving it on for two minutes, straight after you have washed out the dye. Then, use the second conditioner a week later. Use Clairol shampoo or other special shampoo and conditioner for coloured hair if you want to keep the colour for longer.
