How to clean tile floors

Tiles have been used by mankind for centuries. Evidence of tiles can be found in the great Pyramids, ancient Greek cities, and Babylon. Decorative tile work, tiles that have been painted and fired as well as laid out in decorative patterns, were invented by craftsman in the Near East. The practice of using tiles spread through the world up to the present day. File floors are beautiful and long-lasting. However, they must be cleaned.

Gather the supplies and mix

1. Gather together a bucket, oxygen bleach, water, a mop and a toothbrush. 2. Mix together oxygen bleach and water in a bucket. The amount will vary according to the brand. One brand calls for up to four tablespoons of oxygen bleach per every two cups of water. Keep this proportion in mind as you fill your bucket with the amount of water that you need. 3. Mix together the powder and water until the powder is completely dissolved.

Prepare the floor

1. Clean the tile floor with a broom to remove any dirt. Make sure that the grout of the floor is dry before you continue. This will enable the cleaning solution to penetrate and clean thoroughly. 2. Pour the mixture that you created in step one on the floor. Allow the liquid to spread across the floor and let it sit for fifteen minutes or more. 3. If the solution sinks into the grout, mix more solution and pour it on the tile floor.

Scrub that grout

1. Scrub the grout as you are cleaning the tile. Add more solution as you do so, letting the oxygen bubbles do much of the work. 2. Keep scrubbing the grout and the tile, working your way from the edge of the room to a door. 3. For stubborn stains, use a toothbrush to clean the grout, adding more solution as you scrub. The solution will lift the dirt, making it easier to clean the floor. 4. When you have finished cleaning the ceramic tile, blot the floor with a soft cloth. 5. Mop the floor with some oxygen bleach in the water. Allow the floor to dry and enjoy your clean floor. 6. Every time you mop the tile thereafter, add oxygen bleach to the water to help your tile floor to look clean.
