How to compare the prices of built-in microwaves
If you are thinking of renovating your kitchen, you will probably want to leave space for a handy microwave oven. For making quick and easy ready-made dinners to defrosting that joint ready for cooking, there is no doubt how useful microwaves can be. For a stylish, space-saving design go for a built-in model. Here are a few 2011 prices.
Budget
For those on a tight budget, you can still pick up some quality goods. For little over a hundred pounds, these two cheap microwave ovens feature everything that you will need for those basic cooking needs without giving you any style nightmares. Samsung GE109MST This microwave is elegantly finished in stainless steel, this model from Samsung, a 28-litre oven and grill, knocks out 900 watts through seven different power levels and features a handy steam cleaning operation. CDA MC21SS This model is available in a free-standing version as well as the built-in version. Its features include a LED timer, auto defrost and quick start. The only negative point is that it is not suitable for under worktop fitting.
Mid-price
For a slightly higher budget these two models available from the top brands Bosch and Neff will certainly not disappoint. Available for around £350 they may not be exactly cheap appliances but they won't break the bank either.
Bosch HMT75M661B
This built-in electronic oven is both compact and stylishly finished in black. It features a LED display, automatic cook and defrost programmes. The capacity and programmability of this model are certainly impressive for the price.
Neff HW5620N
Again stylishly constructed from stainless steel, the quality of this model is undeniable. In fact, the functioning of the timer on this model is what ultimately makes it stand out from many of its competitors.
Top range
If you want nothing but the best for your kitchen, then these two top of the range built-in microwaves, again from Bosch and Neff, will have you chaffing at the bit.
Bosch HMT85ML53B
Around £550 will get you this compact, 21-litre capacity oven. Available in stylish brushed steel, it features a LED control panel with touch controls and an automatic programmer and timer. Its compact size (382mm x 595mm x 320mm) still knocks out a surprising 900 watts of power.
Neff C67M70
For a couple of hundred pounds extra, however, you could always snap up one of these 1000 watt Combi Microwaves. Permitting multiple cooking options (56 automatic cooking programmes), it's as close to a traditional full-size oven that you can hope for.
