How to make a lemon drop martini
There are many different variations on the classic lemon drop martini cocktail. This article takes a look at how to make the perfect lemon drop martini, so you can enjoy this delicious cocktail at home or whip up a treat for your friends!
What you will need
A lemon drop Martini packs a real punch and is a refreshing, tasty party cocktail. Combining mint, lemon zest and vodka, this dazzling drink is the perfect marriage of summer flavours.
Ingredients
In order to make the perfect lemon drop Martini, you'll need:
- Around 85 ml of vodka,
- 50ml of triple sec,
- 3 lemons juiced and zested,
- 1 cupful of crushed ice,
- Some caster sugar, and
- 2 large mint leaves.
Note:
Don't worry too much about being exact with the quantities. A large, generous slug of vodka, and a sizeable dash of triple sec will be perfect, and caster sugar can be added to taste. This recipe makes enough for one long and large drink.
Directions
- To begin with, dampen the rim of a Martini cocktail glass and dip into the caster sugar to create a stylish frosted edge to the glass.
- Then, place one cupful of crushed ice into a cocktail shaker. Add a good dose of about 85 mls worth of vodka - Smirnoff and Stolichnaya are good options. If you cannot stretch to premium branded vodka, cheaper supermarket labels will work just as well in this flavoursome cocktail.
- Next, put the triple sec into the mix. Bols and Gabriel Boudier are good brands of triple sec, though Tesco also do a good cut-price alternative called Soiree.
- Chop one of the mint leaves and sprinkle into the cocktail shaker.
- Finally add, your juiced lemons and around a tablespoon of caster sugar - more if you have a sweet tooth or less if you prefer a cleaner tasting drink.
- Cover the mixture and shake vigorously until chilled before straining into your pre-prepared cocktail glass. Top with the other mint leaf and a coil of lemon zest. Enjoy!
