How to play Beer pong

When it is drunk in moderation, alcohol can be an excellent way to unwind after a stressful day and help you to relax with your closest friends. Sometimes, however, relaxation may be the last thing on your mind with fun at the very top of your agenda. This is where drinking games come in. This article will take a look at how to play beer pong.

What is beer pong?

Beer pong, also known as Beriut, is a drinking game involving two to four players and a ping pong ball. The objective of the game is to throw the ping pong ball across the table into a beer cup on the other side, upon which the alcohol in that cup must be consumed. History of the game Early versions of the game included ping pong paddles and a net in the centre of the court. However, these rules have been minimised in order to keep casual fun at the top of the agenda. It is believed that the origin of the game began in Dartmouth College in the 1950s, although this information is difficult to substantiate.

Playing the game

To play beer pong, you need an even number of players split up into two teams. Two teams of two players are said to work best. You will need twelve plastic beer cups arranged in a triangular formation on your court, with six cups on each side. Ideally, you will need to find a table that is rectangular to maximise the enjoyment and fairness of the game. More serious players can create custom tables with stylish in-house designs but the game is popular because it can be played almost anywhere - the floor will do, if need be! Official rules and gameplay Although official rules do exist and they are maintained by The World Series of Beer Pong, it is often the case that house rules apply. These rules can include the number of cups, number of players, bounce limit, distance and amount of alcohol. Players take it in turns to thrown the ping pong ball across the table, aiming for the cups of beer. Every time the ball lands in an opponents cup, it has to be consumed until there are no cups remaining. Safety Some players fill their cups with water, keeping a drinkable cup of beer on the side to avoid the risk of illness. It is also important to remember that alcohol should be consumed in moderation to avoid potential danger.
A final word Be sensible and have fun and one day, you could be competing in one of the official beer pong tournaments around the world!
