Wash the hair as normal, then apply the conditioner to the hair and comb through. The conditioner encourages the hair follicles to relax and promotes shine, smoothness and eliminates frizzy hair. Garnier and Pantene are among the best in these types of products. Other products include John Frieda hair straightening spray and Paul Mitchell Super Skinny serum. These products ensure a smooth, straight, shiny hair. Straightening hair- Hair flat iron Always use a quality flat iron. Conair makes great quality flat irons. Only use the flat iron on dry hair. Divide the hair in sections, hold the hair between the middle and index fingers and clamp the hair in the iron and run it downwards for straightness. Continue until the hair is completely straight. Go relatively quickly so that the hair does not dry out.

Chemical straightening

Chemical straightening Materials needed: Relaxer kit [ Dark n' Lovely with Shea Butter works wonderfully], latex gloves, a towel, petroleum jelly for basing, tail comb /application brush, Neutralizing shampoo and conditioner, timer. Method - Use the petroleum jelly for basing the scalp. This will protect the scalp from getting burnt during relaxing. - Thoroughly combine the activator with the relaxer creme. - Put on gloves and wrap the towel around the shoulders to protect clothes - Part the hair into four sections. Dip the brush into the relaxer and apply to new growth only. Set the timer so that the hair is not over or under processed. - Use warm water to wash the creme from the hair. Begin to wash the hair with the neutralizing shampoo to restore the PH balance in the hair. Wash out the shampoo, ensuring that there is no residue left back. Apply conditioner to the hair, from roots to ends and allow to soak for 10 to 15 minutes. Rinse the hair with warm water and then with cool water to close the pores in the hair and to add shine. Using a wrap/set lotion, apply to hair and set as desired before drying. Please note that it is ill-advised to scratch hair 2 to 3 days before relaxing as this will cause scalp irritation.
