How to use hot rollers
Want to give yourself extra time in the morning to get ready with little fuss? Set your hair in hot rollers and go about your morning routine. Just follow these simple steps for fabulous hair with little effort.
Step 1: Preparation
Plug your hot roller set in to heat up. Prepare your hair by applying a product like gel, mousse, or hairspray to help hold curl Gel – For a defined curl, apply gel from the roots down to the tips of your hair Mousse – For a loose curl, apply mouse all over your hair. Hairspray – Spray your hair all over and then comb the hairspray to the ends. OR Spray each strand of hair or curler before rolling the hair. Section your hair into three sections: Top – Gather and clip the top section together, this is your Mohawk section. Sides – Gather the hair from above the ear to the middle of the back on one side of the head and clip together. Repeat for the other side of the head. Bottom – Clip all the hair below the ears together.
Step 2: Rolling
Hold the roller in one hand and with the other hand pull a section of hair taut. Lay the ends of the hair flat against the roller and roll either under or over. If your hair is uneven, lay the roller about an inch from the ends and wrap the hair around the roller. With the bottoms securely rolled around the roller, roll toward the scalp until the roller is tight against the head. When the roller is as close to the scalp as possible, insert the roller pin to hold it into place. Basic rolling methods Starting at the top: Hold a section of your Mohawk straight up in the air tightly. If you didn’t use gel or mousse, spritz the section and the roots with hairspray. Using the large hot rollers in the set, wrap the hair and roll towards the back. Sides and bottom Start with a section of the hair at the top of the sides. Spritz the roller with hair spray. Roll the section of hair downward. When one side is done, repeat on the other. Finish by rolling the bottom the same way.
