Whether you are dealing with nausea in pregnancy or a queasy stomach due to an illness, you would probably love to have an effective solution for nausea relief. There are many different natural remedies that you can use to deal with nausea symptoms, some more effective than others, depending on what causes the nausea. All of these natural solutions are safe to try, even for pregnant women.

Safe herbal solutions

Find out how to treat nausea with simple, soothing herbs. Two of the best herbal remedies are peppermint and ginger. Peppermint relaxes the visceral muscles and acts as a mild anesthetic for the stomach, which is perfect for nausea relief. Try making a cup of peppermint tea. Steep one teaspoon of dried peppermint in one cup of boiling water for ten minutes. Be sure to cover while infusing to keep the volatile oils. Sip your cup of peppermint tea as a safe, soothing nausea remedy.
Ginger Ginger is also excellent for nausea as well as other common digestive issues such as gas or an upset stomach. According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, ginger may be a helpful treatment for nausea due to pregnancy, motion sickness or chemotherapy. Try a cup of ginger tea, powdered ginger capsules or even chew on pieces of ginger candy.

Bread and water

Peppermint and ginger are safe and helpful home treatments for nausea, but there are other solutions if you do not have any herbs on hand. Sometimes, simply sipping on carbonated water can help to stop nausea. The carbonation can temporarily settle the stomach, providing some relief. Do not drink carbonated soda however as the sugar will not help. Tips Wondering how to ease morning sickness? In many cases the nausea in pregnancy is due to lower blood sugar levels. Simply snacking on crackers, fresh fruit and nuts can help to prevent the nausea from starting. Try keeping a package of crackers next to your bed. When you wake up, eat two or three crackers and drink some water before even getting up. Make sure that you always have some food on hand to prevent blood sugar levels from dropping. If you are experiencing unexplained nausea for more than one day, then be sure to make an appointment with your doctor. Sometimes, nausea is a symptom of another health problem.
