Select TV: The facts

Since 1995, Select TV is an Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) company which is based in Malaysia. The company provides interactive TV services to the home and hospitality sectors, primarily in the Middle East and South East Asian markets.

Products

Overview
Its services are used by the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi, the Armani Hotel in the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, Kempinski Residences in Doha in addition to the SuperStar Virgo cruise ship.
Its hospitality offering is known as CXS, while its home package is known as EMAGINE.
Products
Select TV offers TV products and services, including Video on Demand which can be purchased as packages for unlimited videos or on an "A la carte basis", where customers pay only for the programme viewed.
There is also Music on Demand, featuring a wide catalogue of tunes that can be streamed or downloaded at a price to mobile phones and Ipods. Other services
In addition, the company provides eCommerce options where customers can buy airline tickets, check bank statements, and order home services, such as grocery shopping, plumbing and electrical services.
Other offerings include e-Learning featuring tutorials and quizzes on various topics as well as interactive gaming.

Xcreens

Innovative feature
In addition to its IPTV services, Select TV also offers clients such as hotels the option to purchase their Xcreens, with integrated IPTV content.
These can be placed in public areas such as hotel lobbies, function rooms, lifts and reception areas.

Further development
In 2010, Select TV managed to secure funds from Malaysia Venture Capital Berhad and Intel Capital Corporation with the intention of investing MR30 million to expand its IPTV systems as part of the Malaysia's Economic Transformation Program.
This initiative aims to turn Malaysia into a high income economy by 2020, with a per capital income of more than $15,000. As part of this, Select TV will expand its footprint internationally by setting up its IPTV services in hotels throughout the South East Asia region, making sure that Malaysian-made content can be seen at both home and abroad.
Final word
The intention is for Select TV to be available in an additional 20,000 hotel rooms in Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and the Middle East by 2020.
