The main islands of the Hawaii island group are Niihau, Kauai, Oahu, Lanai, Kahoolawe, Maui and Hawaii. The capital of Hawaii is located in the island Oahu and is named Honolulu.

Honolulu

Hawaii’s capital, Honolulu is definitely a reason of its own to visit Hawaii. In Honolulu, which means ‘sheltered bay’, you can find many notable attractions, such as the Ala Moana Center, the Aloha Tower, the Diamond Head, the Honolulu Academy of Arts, the Honolulu Zoo, the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, the USS Arizona Memorial and many others. Do not forget to pass on the Waikiki Beach.

Flora and fauna

If you are interested in unique flora and fauna, you should visit the Haleakala National Park, which you will find on the island of Maui and the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. It is thus situated on the island of Hawaii.

History

On the other hand, if you are interested in history, visit the Kalaupapa National Historical Park, the Kaloko-Honokohau National Historical Park and the Puuhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park. All parks are under the protection of the National Park Service.
