General plot-line
Cartoon gorilla
The cartoon gorilla was undoubtedly the star of the show, but he was supported by the likes of Punkin' Puss and Mushmouse, Ricochet Rabbit and Droop-a-Long.
Voices and theme music
This animated comedy series starred the voices of Allan Melvin, Howard Morris, Jean Vander Pyl and Don Messick. The theme music was composed by Hoyt Curtin.
The plot
Magilla Gorilla (Allan Melvin) spent most of his time living in the front window of Melvin Peebles' pet shop.
Mr. Peebles (originally Howard Morris, and then Don Messick) found it hard to sell or rent out Magilla, regardless of how much he discounted his asking price. The customers always seemed to return Magilla, and demand their money back.
A little girl, named Ogee (Jean Vander Pyl) would have loved to own the gorilla, but her parents were not convinced that it was a good idea.

A director from Grotesque Pictures snaps-up Magilla for his latest film, but the ordeal proves to be less than enjoyable for Magilla.
Planet Zero
Aliens from the Planet Zero whisk Magilla off to their home planet, where he convinces them not to invade earth.
The Purple Mask
The little girl Ogee gets upset, when she can't prove to Hector that the Purple Mask is real.
Magilla volunteers to help, by taking the place of the Purple Mask.
