Visiting Alameda County

Alameda County is located in the East Bay section of the San Francisco Bay Area. It can easily be reached from San Francisco, by crossing the Bay Bridge. If you are planning to visit, good attractions can be found in the city of Alameda, along with Oakland and Berkeley. Here's a look at some things to do.

Things to do in the East Bay

Guided walking tours Berkeley is home to the University of California Berkeley, which offers guided daily walking tours. Varieties of roses
It is also the location for the Berkeley Rose Garden, which has 250 varieties of roses, with the main blooming season beginning in May, and ending in September. Berkeley Marina If you are interested water sports, there's the Berkeley Marina, which also offers a free 3,000 foot public fishing pier. The Habitot Children's Museum If you are travelling with young children, The Habitot Children's Museum is a hands-on museum, specifically geared for kids seven years of age and under. USS Hornet Museum You can get a real feel of history at the USS Hornet Museum, in the city of Alameda.
Aircraft carrier Besides serving in World War II and Vietnam, this aircraft carrier was used as recovery ship for both the Apollo 11 and 12 missions. Robert W. Crown Memorial State Beach Also, in Alameda is the Robert W. Crown Memorial State Beach, where bird lovers can observe ducks, loons and grebes.
