The hair is every person’s crowning glory and for this reason, people do everything they can to have great hair. However, a ratio of one in ten people nowadays faces the problem of hair loss. There are many different reasons for hair loss and knowing what causes the problem is essential before starting any specific treatment. Hence, this article will focus on the causes of hair loss.

Introduction

It is imperative that the reason of losing hair is judged as quickly as possible so that the prevention of baldness can be initiated before it is too late. Without doing so, it will not be possible for you to stop the hair fall and hair loss. Also, the reasons are numerous. Even the faintest imbalance of minerals in your body might be a reason that can create the entire problem for you.

Causes

Hormonal Imbalance Nowadays, some scientific studies prove that hormonal imbalance is the major cause of hair loss in both men and women. The rise in DHT (dihydrotestosterone) levels is the actual reason. DHT is derived from the testosterone, a hormone produced in the male testis. This rise causes hair follicles to become too sensitive and thus, become thinner and shorter. The result is hair loss. Smoking and weakened Immune system Smoking is also a reason. It increases the production of toxins and free radicals in the body and thus, causes hair fall and other diseases. It also depletes Vitamin C stored from the body which then, lowers the body’s defence system. Having a weakened or imbalanced immune system poses a risk for hair loss. When immunity is weak, opportunistic viruses and bacteria attack, damage and weaken the hair follicles. Fungal infections are also known to be a possible cause. Others Reasons for hair fall can also be due to the deficiency of protein and iron in the diet as well as stress. In addition, some medications including oral contraceptives, medications for blood pressure, anti-depressants like lithium and Prozac, and illegal drugs such as cocaine also cause hair loss. Acids found in hair treatment products have also been shown to cause hair loss because of the damage it causes to the hair follicles, which in turn, causes people to lose hair..
