A founding member of SkyTeam, Delta partakes in the industry's top trans-Atlantic joint venture with Alitalia and Air France - KLM and owns the world's largest airline loyalty program, SkyMiles.
Delta's Frequent Flyer Program launched in 1981 changed its name to Skymiles in 1995.
Delta is the only US airline without mileage expiration.
Through its four-tier Medallion Program, Delta offers a number of benefits to reward Program's members. Medallion Qualification Miles (MQMs) can be earned through flight activity, SkyMiles partner activity or through the total number of segments flown. How to qualify
Basically, Medallion status is earned this way: - 25,000 MQMs or 30 Qualification Segments for Silver Medallion status.
- 50,000 MQMs or 60 Qualification Segments for Gold Medallion status.
- 75,000 MQMs or 100 Qualification Segments for Platinum Medallion status.
- 125,000 MQMs or 140 Qualification Segments for Diamond Medallion status. According to Medallion Choice Benefits, if you qualify for Platinum you can choose one gift, and if you qualify for Diamond, two gifts.
These can be Systemwide Upgrades, Bonus Miles or Travel Retail Gift Cards. SkyMiles include a variety of offers.
