Where to buy coffee percolators?

Any lover of coffee will certainly find a percolator a welcome addition to the kitchen. Whilst percolators may seem somewhat old fashioned, some people will still love this old art of brewing coffee. Here, we will be looking at where to buy the perfect percolator for your needs and also at the different types which will help you to buy the best coffee maker.

Types to choose from before buying

Types of percolators There are two types of percolators. One is the continuous cycle percolator and the other is the single cycle. They can be either electric-powered or placed directly onto a heat source, such as an open fire or on a oven hob. Preparation for making coffee All percolators work upon the same principle. The coffee machine consists of a pot which has a chamber at the bottom which is closest to the heat source. From this chamber leads a tube which goes to the top of the percolator. There is a second, perforated chamber at the top of the percolator where the coffee grounds go. With water poured into the bottom chamber, the percolator is then placed over a heat source (or is turned on in the electric variety). The brewing process
As the water boils, it starts to travel up the tube, with the hot water pouring over the coffee grounds. The water falls back to the bottom and the process is then repeated until the coffee is of a desired strength. Single cycle machines work the same except that once the water has filtered through the grounds, it falls into a separate chamber and the process is not repeated. Considerations before buying
Two main things to consider before buying are the capacity of the percolator and what the main source of heat will be. Whilst most households might opt for the electrical variety, the more traditional variety which requires a direct heat source might be more versatile for some users. The style and material the percolator is made from should also be considered.
