Whole chicken recipes

Chickens are delicious and have been enjoyed by humans for centuries. They originated from jungle fowl, some of which still exist in the jungles of Asia and took on other forms as humans learned to domesticate them. Chickens are valued for their eggs and their meal which is delicious as well as contain lower fat than other meat. Cooking the whole chicken is simpler than you think. Here are two chicken recipe ideas.

Recipe one

The first recipe is courtesy of Jamie Oliver. - Use a 1.6kg chicken from the fridge at least 30 minutes before you plan to cook it. - Preheat the oven to 450 degrees. - Chop up two medium onions, two carrots and two celery sticks. - Break up a bulb of garlic, but do not peel them. - Put them in a roasting pan and drizzle olive oil on top of them. - Place the chicken on top of the vegetables. - Drizzle the chicken with olive oil as well and season with salt pepper, - Poke a lemon with a knife by making many holes. - Put the lemon inside the chicken with rosemary, thyme or herbs of you choice. - Place the pan in the oven and turn down the heat to 400 degrees and cook for one hour and twenty minutes. - Halfway through the cooking time, use a paster to rub the chicken with the juices in the bottom of the pan. - Remove the chicken from the pan when cooked and cover with tin foil. - Add flour to the liquid in the pan to make gravy. - Pour over the chicken and serve with the vegetables.
