A biography of Amanda Perez
Amanda Nicole Perez is a female American R&B singer-songwriter and record producer of Mexican descent. She has had numerous chart successes and is also renowned for making hit music videos. This article looks at the successful music artist in more detail.
Starting out
Amanda Perez was raised in Fort Wayne in the state of Indiana and grew up in the Waynedale community of Fort Wayne. She attended North Side High School whilst she lived in Fort Wayne. In 2001, she signed her first record deal with Upstairs records before going on to release her first single.
Success
In 2001, Perez released her first single which was entitled "Never." "Never" became Perez's first charting single of her career and it peaked at number 79 on the U.S Billboard Hot 100 sales chart.
Where you at
This successful start was followed by the release of Perez's first album in 2002 which was entitled, "Where you at?" The album was produced by the Los Angeles radio DJ and A and R music producer Mighty Mickey Quinn who is more famously known by his stage name as Mike Q.
Unlike before, when her single was released under the Upstairs record label, Perez's album was released under Powerhowse Records in Beverly Hills, California. The co-production of the LP also included a strong influence from Los Angeles based producer Tony Palacios.
Biggest success
Angel Amanda Perez's song 'Angel' is her biggest hit to date. The song was released in 2003 and peaked at number 20 on the Hot 100 sales chart and number three on the radio charts. This single helped the album, also entitled Angel, to become a hit. The single also became a hit in New Zealand as it made it to number 37 on the kiwi charts. Music videos Amanda Perez's music videos have been attributed to playing a major part in her success. Four of her videos which were all directed by Mikey Q made it on to MTV and was charted on the total request live charts on MTV when it reached number seven. The success with her videos paved the way for her to sign a record deal with Universal records after she had attracted the attention of many major record companies. She is scheduled to release a fifth album in late 2011.
