A biography of Christine Lavin

Christine Lavin is a combination of singer, song-writer, guitar player and baton twirler. She is also a folk singer. She is a folk singer who chose to take the footpaths of America rather than the highways in her romantic and sometimes funny journey as a musician. She holds the record of having sung a song with the longest title.

The longest song title

The name of the title is "Regretting What I Said to You When You Called Me 11:00 On a Friday Morning to Tell Me that at 1:00 Friday Afternoon You're Gonna Leave Your Office, Go Downstairs, Hail a Cab to Go Out to the Airport to Catch a Plane to Go Skiing in the Alps for Two Weeks, Not that I Wanted to Go With You, I Wasn't Able to Leave Town, I'm Not a Very Good Skier, I Couldn't Expect You to Pay My Way, But After Going Out With You for Three Years I DON'T Like Surprises!! Subtitled: A Musical Apology"

Best songwriter

Her music can not be categorised; most people regard it as a mix of folk and stand up comedy to which baton twirling has been added. She is not heard on the mainstream radio stations but only on the public broadcasting systems. She has a fan following which is very esoteric. Penthouse magazine has labelled her as one of the best songwriters of America.

The family guitarist

She has eight brothers and sisters and her mother gave her a guitar to give her the identity of the family guitarist. She could not afford lessons, so she learned from the free public channel television lessons broadcast twice a week in New York City. She has taken up many odd jobs in restaurants and bakeries to learn the trade of running her own club some day. She also learned to play the guitar better.

The Four Bitchin' Babes

Things started stirring up by the mid 1980s. She produced her own song records and some of them grabbed critical attention and a fan following. Successful records were ‘Beau Woes’ and ‘Other Problems of Modern Life’ in 1986. Another successful phase in her life began when she joined up with three other fold singers to form a band called “The Four Bitchin’ Babes.” She has won many awards over the years including the Singer Songwriter Magazine Award in ‘Top 100 of the most influential Artists in the last 15 years.’ It is likely in the future that the 59 year old New Yorker will become a member of the American Folk Singers’ Hall of Fame.
