Christine Lavin is a combination of singer, song-writer, guitar player and baton twirler. She is also a folk singer. She is a folk singer who chose to take the footpaths of America rather than the highways in her romantic and sometimes funny journey as a musician. She holds the record of having sung a song with the longest title.

She has eight brothers and sisters and her mother gave her a guitar to give her the identity of the family guitarist. She could not afford lessons, so she learned from the free public channel television lessons broadcast twice a week in New York City. She has taken up many odd jobs in restaurants and bakeries to learn the trade of running her own club some day. She also learned to play the guitar better.

The Four Bitchin' Babes

Things started stirring up by the mid 1980s. She produced her own song records and some of them grabbed critical attention and a fan following. Successful records were ‘Beau Woes’ and ‘Other Problems of Modern Life’ in 1986. Another successful phase in her life began when she joined up with three other fold singers to form a band called “The Four Bitchin’ Babes.” She has won many awards over the years including the Singer Songwriter Magazine Award in ‘Top 100 of the most influential Artists in the last 15 years.’ It is likely in the future that the 59 year old New Yorker will become a member of the American Folk Singers’ Hall of Fame.
