A biography of The Ditty Bops
The Ditty Bops are a Californian performing duo who write and perform their own music. These musical mavens are not only successful performers, they have also writing credits to their names as well as the accolade of being included in Billboard Magazine’s list of Top Ten Green Bands. Below is a short Ditty Bop biography.
Who are the Ditty Bops?
The Ditty Bops are a pair of songstresses and musicians, Abby De Wald and Amanda Barrett. Abbey plays the guitar and Amanda is the mandolin and dulcimer. Their music is a blend of styles including folk, pop, jazz and western swing. Dewalt and Barret met in New York City (although, they call California their home) and have been romantically involved since 1999. They have been writing and performing together since 2003. Both their songs and the pair have been featured on several TV shows such as Grey’s Anatomy, The L Word and Men in Trees. In 2008, the ladies announced their marriage on their Myspace page. They have also been featured on Bob Dylan’s album, Christmas in the Heart and they sing with Natalie Merchant on her new record.
More than just a pretty voice
Not only do these ladies write, perform and produce their own music, they write and paint as well. From their tree house studio in Hollywood, they have written and illustrated two children’s story books, Ruffy Loves to Excercise and Jelly Loves Jam. They have also held two public exhibitions of their paintings. They sell their original artwork, zines and writing through Etsy (their profile page is on Etsy.com).
