Early career & success
Tony Moore's musical career began in 1977 when he joined the then-almost unknown Iron Maiden. He had been working in the Hi-Fi department of a Bristol high street store before answering an advert for a keyboard player in the classified section of the famous British music paper Melody Maker. Although he was not that keen on the kind of music played by Maiden, he nevertheless auditioned and was invited to join the band. His tenure did not last long, however, as after one bad gig he left, feeling that he did not really fit in and that the band did not need a keyboard player. After leaving, Moore worked with Brian James of The Damned for a while, releasing a single and touring in support of Black Sabbath and The Stranglers. In 1986, he was invited to play keyboards for the band Cutting Crew, and would go on to enjoy global success with them on the back of the single '(I Just) Died In Your Arms Tonight'.
Later career & awards
Moore's spell in Cutting Crew lasted for around two years, before he left and signed a solo deal with a small independent label, and then released a single. He later enjoyed some success working with Argentine singer/songwriter Marie Claire D'ubaldo. Moore later attempted to represent the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest, coming second in Song For Europe in 2001 with his song 'That's My Love'. He also moved into club and venue management, running the Kashmir Klub in London from 1997 to 2004. In 2004, he became the sole inductee into the MMF (Music Managers Forum) Roll of Honour for outstanding contribution to the British Music Industry. He continues to run venues and appears in music related media to this day, presenting a show on Maltese television. He also continues to play as a performing musician, playing gigs at The Bedford and The Regal Room in London. Moore is not be confused with Kru Tony Moore, who runs a Muay Thai Boran martial arts academy in Manchester, England.
