A buyer's guide to the Pearl Export drum set
When you first start out as a drummer, it is not a good idea to buy the most expensive kit that you find. If you decide to take your drumming seriously, you can always get an expensive set later. If you are buying a drum set, the three major brands that you should consider are Tama, Sonor and Pearl. This article will introduce you to the Pearl Export drum kits.
A superior drum kit
Even though they are no longer manufactured, Pearl Export drum kits are the first choice of many experienced drummers. Pearl drum kits have been made in Japan since 1952. They are very solid, and have very professional looking finishes even in the entry-level kits like the Export drum set.
Features
A distinctive feature of Pearl drums is their "Superior Shell Technology". This involves fusing the layers of wood together using hot glue and a tremendous amount of pressure. This makes a drum that can withstand a lot of rough treatment.
When you buy your first set of drums, make sure that symbols and stands are included in the price because these can be expensive to buy separately. A basic drum kit includes a bass drum, a snare drum, a floor tom, a bass tom, and hi-hat symbols.
Materials
Drums can be made from a variety of woods or, in the case of cheaper models, from compressed cardboard. You can purchase Pearl drum kits made from Maple which have a great sound. A wood drum carries much more resonance than compressed cardboard models.
Many drummers feel that Pearl Export drum kits improved over the years. The company introduced continuous innovations to their designs. A company devoted to continual improvement always remains in the customer's memory.
Still a good buy
The Export line of drums has been replaced by the Pearl Vision drums, so they are not available in your local drum shop. You will need to look on eBay or Amazon to find one of the Pearl Export drum kits. Even though they have been superseded by the higher quality Vision drum equipment, they still command a good price. The only weakness in the Export drum set is the cymbals. The general consensus among drummers is that they are of indifferent quality, but that should not be a reason to pass over the purchase of an Export kit if it is in good condition. After all, you can buy cymbals fairly cheaply.
