A guide to America's Best Dance Crew

America's Best Dance Crew is an American, competitive, dance reality television show that mainly features street dancers competing against each other to win the competition. It is produced by the judge from the American Pop idol, Randy Jackson and airs in the U.S on MTV. This article provides you with a guide to America's Best Dance Crew.

The show

The show is hosted by former Saved By The Bell Star Mario Lopez and sees contestants competing for a $100,000 grand prize for the best leaders who win the final. Each week, the crews are given a challenge which is different for each crew, but has the same general concept of performing in front of an audience, often coming from some of the best cities in America, before that the dances are rated by the judges. Judging panel During the last series, which was series six and was aired in 2011, the judging panel consisted of JC Chasez, Lil Mama and D-Trix. In previous series, Omarion and Shane Sparks were also on the judging panel. As well as the main show, each week there is a results show, again hosted by Mario Lopez, who reveals which group has come in the bottom two. Both groups perform and the judges decide which group is eliminated whilst the winning group remain in the competition. Furthermore, each week the winning crew receives a Golden B-Boy Trophy which is a golden statue of a B- Boy doing a freeze dance move with the legs moving like a bobblehead.

Show internationally

The show's rights have been sold to a variety of countries which now broadcast their own versions of it and are generally shown on the countries owning version of MTV. The show in Canada airs on two channels whilst the Italian version airs on MTV Italy. The show also has its own versions in Argentina, Russia, Latin America, Germany, Austria, Ukraine, Finland, Hungary, The Netherlands, Norway and in the U.K which are all aired on the countries versions of MTV. Change of name The show normally takes on a different name depending on which country it is in, in order to better relate to the people of the country. For example, in Russia, the show translates into,
'Kings of the Dance floor' whilst in the Ukraine the title translates in to, 'Dance Battles.'
