A guide to using Brisbane Airport's car hire service

Brisbane International Airport (BNE) is the third largest airport in Australia and is located on the east coast, in the state of Queensland. There are two terminals, the domestic terminal and the international terminal. Brisbane airport was voted the best airport, with the friendliest staff, in the Australia-Pacific region in 2008. The airport is modern, spacious and easy to navigate. It is very easy to rent a car in Australia, and Brisbane car rentals are no different.

Book ahead In the summer months of December to February

It is advisable to book your vehicle before you arrive, as Brisbane car rentals can be booked out, especially during the summer months of December to February. You can book direct with the car hire companies (Avis, Budget, Thrifty, Europcar, Hertz and Redspot) or you can use an Australian car hire broker such as Brisbaneairportcarhire.net.au or Vroomvroomvroom.com.au. At these sites, you will be able to easily compare the various prices and get the best deal. You can also book extra services such as baby seats.

The International Terminal

At the International Terminal, the customer car rental booths are located on Level 2 in the Arrivals hall. The Australian car hire companies that have booths here are Europcar, Thrifty Cars, Budget, Hertz and Avis. Once you have checked in, you must proceed to the Domestic Terminal to pick up your car. There is an Airtrain service between the International and Domestic Terminals.

The Domestic Terminal

At the Domestic Terminal, the customer car rental booths are located on Level 1 in the Arrivals Hall. The Brisbane car rentals here are Budget, Avis, Hertz, Europcar, Redspot and Thrifty Rent A Car.

Picking up your car

Once you have checked in, you must proceed to the Brisbane car rentals pickup location which is directly opposite the domestic terminal in the car-park building. Thrifty Car Hire is located on the right-hand side, Europcar on the left-hand side, with the other companies located in the middle section. The Brisbane car rental staff will give you maps of the region and directions which will help you to exit the airport. The airport is located 20 minutes north of the city. Roads in Queensland are very easy to navigate, and Australians drive on the left-hand side of the road. All the car hire companies offer toll-free telephone numbers for customer assistance.
