Adam Scott: biography

Adam Scott is an Australian golfer, who regularly competes on the PGA Tour, as well as other Tours all over the world. He was once ranked as the third best player in the world, and in 2011 he finished second at the US Masters.

Beginnings

Adam Derek Scott was born on 16th July 1980 in Adelaide, Australia. He attended school locally at The Southport School and The Kooralbyn International School. He then relocated to the USA to attend the University of Nevada in Las Vegas. Adam Scott's golf future was secured when he turned professional in 2000, and his career took off the next year when he won the Alfred Dunhill European Tour Championship in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Career

In 2003 Adam Scott celebrated his first win on the PGA Tour at the Deutsche Bank Championship, with another two tour victories coming the following year. These wins propelled him into golf's Top-10 rankings in early 2005, where he remained for over 180 weeks. He continued this good form into 2006, as he won the Tour Championship and also finished third on the PGA Tour money list for that year. A second place finish at the Mercedes-Benz Championship in January 2007 led to Scott ascending the player rankings to be ranked as the third best player in the world. However, his golf form dropped sharply in 2009, resulting in him dropping out of the Top-50 world rankings. In spite of this, he still managed to secure his seventh PGA Tour title as he won the Valero Texas Open by one stroke. Scott’s performances in Major Championships have been mixed, but in 2006 he finished in joint third place in the PGA Championship. In April 2011, at the US Masters, Scott finished joint second; just two strokes behind eventual winner Charl Schwartzel.

Achievements

Adam Scott has achieved seven victories on the PGA Tour with his first coming on in 2003 when he defeated American, Rocco Mediate, by four strokes to win the Deutsche Bank Championship. This was followed by a pair of Tour victories in 2004 with wins at The Players Championship and the Booz Allen Classic. In February 2005 he won the Nissan Open in a play-off, but this tournament is not officially recognised as it was shortened to 36 holes due to rain. In 2006 he won the Tour Championship, followed by the Shell Houston Open in 2007, the EDS Byron Nelson Championship in 2008 and the Valero Texas Open in 2010. Scott has also enjoyed seven tournament victories on the European Tour including wins at the Qatar Masters in both 2002 and 2008 as well as the Jonnie Walker Classic in 2008.

Golf is the sport where players hit the small balls with different ‘clubs’ (different ones are favoured for different shots) in an attempt to get the ball into a hole. due to the fact that at higher levels the game can be a ‘matter of inches’, golf companies are forever trying to manufacture the best clubs to give their users the literal and figurative ‘inch’. callaway are one such company and one of their best regarded clubs is the callaway big bertha, which i will detail in this article.
