History The magazine originally began as the Official UK PlayStation Magazine. This ran for 108 issues, spanning from November 1995, to coincide with the release of the PlayStation 1 (PS), until March 2004. Within the first two years of its creation, the magazine became a huge success, by becoming the biggest selling video-games magazine in the world. At this time, in 1997, it was selling more than 150,000 copies, with a peak readership of 453, 571 being recorded in 1999 after the release of the video game, Metal Gear Solid.

Official UK PlayStation 2 Magazine

The Official UK PlayStation 2 Magazine was first released in November 2000, as a sequel to the original magazine. This coincided with the released of the PlayStation 2 console. 100 editions of the magazine were made, with the last coming in June 2008. Like the original magazine, it was a success by becoming the United Kingdom's biggest selling PlayStation 2 magazine.

Playstation Official Magazine

The current edition of the magazine concentrates on bringing all the latest news involving the PS3 and PSP. This includes PS3 reviews and PSP reviews. It will also provide links on how to access your PS3 online, PS3 forums and access the relevant PS3 and PSP websites. As Sony created the PlayStation consoles, there will inevitably be links to the Sony homepage and Sony store, so you can view other goods made by the brand.

Features of the magazine

The magazine includes several regular features to keep the reader informed and entertained. Preview and review sections These allow the reader to get up-to-date with new and exciting features that a highly-rated game has, or learn more about when the new video game they are awaiting is being released. Agenda This section provides the game sales chart and informs the reader which games are proving to be most popular. The Big 10 The 10 biggest PlayStation-related stories are discussed and described.
