Car advice for beginners

For many people, passing their driving test and owning their first car can be a major milestone in their lives. However, whilst the hard part has been taken care of, now there are a number of different things to take into consideration. This is the beginning of a never ending learning curve. This article will be offering car advice for beginners.

Important considerations to be made

The amount of considerations that need to be made for a beginner in terms of cars are manifold and to sum them all up, is way beyond the scope of this article. That said, there are many simple factors that all beginners should know and the most important ones will be highlighted here. What type of car do you want and need? Car buyers should take a number of things on board before buying a vehicle. For instance, if you're on a budget, then a car with a low insurance group will save you sometimes upwards thousands of pounds, especially for very young drivers. Insurance for cars is never really very cheap for beginners but if you insist on buying some top of the range, high powered sports car, then be prepared to put your hand pretty deep into your pockets. New car or second-hand? Many manufacturers sell new cars with at least three years warranty and with a number of them, things like free insurance for the first year might be added to the package as an additional incentive to buy. Many will also offer financing offers for the car but sometimes, it might be best to take loan advice from a bank as this may be cheaper. Second-hand cars often also come with warranties, especially from forecourt dealers. However, always have someone with you who knows a little about cars before buying a second-hand one from someone.

Breakdown cover and maintenance

It is often worthwhile taking out breakdown cover for a vehicle, especially if you intend to cover a lot of miles. Whilst this might seem to be some another unnecessary expense when you compare the price of being towed from a motorway (which can be in the hundreds), then you might well be saving yourself even more money in the long run. Regular maintenance If you care for your car, it will care for you. Always perform regular check-ups such as tyre tread depth, ensure that your lights all work and make sure that your windscreen wipers are in good condition. Not only will this make the driving experience safer, but it will also stop you from possible prosecution by the police.
