Method 1
The simplest way to bypass Windows XP password is to enter the Windows log-on screen, by pressing 'Ctrl+Alt+Del' twice. When the screen appears, type “administrator” for the user name and leave the password box blank. After that, you need to click “Start” and then “Run”, enter control userpasswords2 and then click OK. Go to the Users tab, select the name of the account password which you want to reset and click “Reset Password”. Enter the new password in the box “new password” and retype it in the box “Confirm new password”. Finally, you need to restart your PC and try to log on again.
Method 2
You can use a piece of software called Windows Password Reset, which allows you to reset the XP administrator password. The whole process takes less than five minutes. The only thing you need to do is to burn a password reset CD and remove your lost Windows password.
Method 3
A good way to deal with a lost administrator password is to run your PC on “Safe Mode”. “Safe Mode” is the best way to load Windows when there are critical problems interfering with the normal operation of the system.
To enter “Safe Mode”, you need to follow these steps:
- Reboot your computer and press F8 to enter “Advanced Boot Options”.
- Choose “Safe Mode” with Command Prompt and press "Enter".
- Log in with an administrator account and type “net user” in the “Command Prompt”. This will list all the Windows user account names for you.
- Set the new password and log on to your computer with the new password.
Method 4
You can create a system repair disc by clicking on Start - Control Panel - System and Security, and then clicking on "Backup" and "Restore". After that, click on "Create a system repair disc" and insert a blank CD into your drive. Click on the button “Create disc”. When it's finished, you can use the system repair disc to bypass the Windows password.
