How to have a Dora party

Kids just love Dora. You can make their birthday extra special by having a Dora day. In this article, follow our guide on how to prepare for the best birthday party ever. From decorations to games to party packs, you can make their birthday a truly special occasion.

Decorations

Decorations are the key element for any Dora birthday party. High Street shops sell ready-made banners, tablewares and cards all with the Dora theme. You can find Dora party supplies quite easily in supermarkets too. You can also make your own by using pictures of Dora found on the Internet. If you have graphics of Dora, you can print off place name cards, posters and banners to decorate the room. Remember that Dora loves Spanish, so find some easy Spanish words that you can attach to things, giving the party a real Dora theme. You can also add these to home-made Dora party invitations. Don’t forget the cake! If you are not up to making your own, Tesco and Asda both supply ready-made Dora birthday cakes.

Games to play

Games are an essential part of any party. Use Spanish words for a bingo game or get the children to guess what is the meaning of the word, by acting it out.
Piñata A piñata is a favourite. You will have to prepare one in advance, but basically a Dora piñata is a papier-mâché creation filled with goodies. - Using a blown-up balloon, add layers of glued paper to it over a few days to build up a strong piñata. When the balloon is dry, decorate it with paint and coloured paper. - Fill it with sweets and treats, and hang it in an easy-to-reach space for children. Outside games If the weather is good, you can play outside games. Dora loves soccer and baseball, so you could have a game outside. Swiper loves stealing from parties. If you can get someone to dress up as the wily fox, you can play-act stealing from the party, and take the kids out for a game of treasure hunt to find what he has stolen. Of course, Dora loves exploring, so you can also play nature games outside. If it is rainy, you can do inside Dora activities. Print off colouring pages and puzzles from websites such as Nickjr.com or Cartoonwatcher.com. You can also use these to put into going home party packs. Make the packs look like Dora’s purple backpack. You can draw or paint this onto paper bags, and fill it with sweets and Dora surprises for great Dora bags.
