Everybody likes to relax and unwind every now and then, whether that is by sitting in front of the television or by having a nice, long bath. Ingredients
To make your own bath beads, you will need the following ingredients:
- 1/2 cup powdered milk
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons Borax
- 1/4 cup minus one tablespoon rose water or orange water
- Essential oil
- Waxed paper
You can also use food colouring, but that is optional, as the colouring will often have an affect on the bath water.
Making the beads
Prepare a mixture of powdered milk, powdered sugar and Borax by thoroughly stirring them into a glass bowl using a wooden spoon. Next, add the orange or rose water and then put in approximately ten drops of essential oils. If you want to include food colouring, now is the time. Mix all of these ingredients together using your hands - you may want to use gloves for this stage.
Continue to do this until the mixture turns into a putty-like substance. Finally, roll the dough into small balls and place them on waxed paper, leaving enough room between each ball. Leave to dry for around 24 hours and then store in an airtight container. Voila - your bath beads are ready to use!
Other uses
Of course, everyone loves to relax every now and then, so why not share your creation with friends and family? Colourful and scented bath luxuries are an ideal gift for loved ones and they are even more appreciated when you have made them yourself. Why not have a go at making a colour-themed set, or even experiment with different aromas? You could also try making your own salts or bath oils.
