Stock photography
This is a relatively easy way to get your name and product out into the market. It does take a keen eye and an above average knowledge of lighting in order to produce stock photographs. Stock photography features products, people and situations that fit into advertising purposes by companies who rely on print or online exposure. Some of the more popular areas of stock photography’s include anything medically related, business people in office situations and macro photography of products. Stock photos can be uploaded to online sites that market them to perspective clients.
Wedding photography
This particular area takes a certain type of photographer to be successful doing it, but if you feel you are that sort of person it’s a very lucrative area. Creativity and a good working knowledge of your camera, especially lighting, are integral. Many of your weekends will be occupied with weddings and bear in mind you will be dealing with many different personalities. One of the most important days in a woman’s life is her wedding day. It helps if you have an easygoing personality and are sensitive to the needs of the bride and the groom.
Portrait photography
Portrait photography can include anything from group or family of photographs, to school portraits for students. Although portrait photography can be done outdoors, you should have the option of an indoor studio due to the possibility of inclement weather or just for a more formal look. Photography studios need not be elaborate, but there are key elements you will need such as a backdrop, auxiliary lighting and objects such as chairs for different poses.
Pet photography
Society today is more into their pets than ever before and if you are a pet lover this can be a very fun and rewarding aspect to a photography business. This takes patience however since animals are not great at taking direction. As with portrait photography, outdoor photographs are great but you should have a studio to fall back on. A good way to get the word out that you are in the business of pet photography would be posting notices at your veterinarian’s office or at local pet stores around your city.
