How to make prints and posters

Prints and posters are easy to make at home and even easier to make if you are using a computer. You can produce your own posters by using Microsoft Word or you can make them by hand using prints. Read further to find out how to go about it.

Size and graphics

Decide on how big you want your poster. With an average printer, you will be able to print off multiples of A4 size sheets. If you are making the poster by hand, it is easy to opt for any size. Before you begin designing, bear this in mind. For a typical A4 size print, you will need to adjust your graphic so that it does not blur or distort. If you are using photos, adjust them with any photo software that you have before adding them into your Word document. You can adjust your margins to allow for photo size before you start printing posters. You can also use prints if you are making a poster by hand. Custom print the right size that you need for your project and glue on. Alternatively, make framed prints from your image of choice. For a poster designed on the computer, you may want more than just a graphic. If the poster is advertising a business or an upcoming event, you will want to add words as well as graphics to make your poster really stand out.

Borders and lettering

Choose a border to go around the edge of your poster or use a text box enlarged to the page size and change its border design. Add in your text. Remember to keep your heading at the top of the poster and make it bold by using a bright colour and good looking font. Fill in the rest of your information, keeping it clear and concise. Keep your letter size large so that it can be seen from a distance. People rarely get up close to a poster to read its small print. This applies for a hand-made poster too. Add in contact information if needed. To finish up, add graphics around the text or place one large image under the headline but before the rest of the information. Choose something relevant to what your poster is advertising. Search online for the latest images to use in prints and custom posters. Once you have designed your poster, you can make as many as you need.
